Sooo, this is awkward. I left kinda abruptly almost three months ago without a word about why I stopped writing and posting. About the same time I quit my Facebook profile without an explanation too. So if you were my friend on Facebook and followed this blog it might have left a mysterious impression. For that I apologize. The truth is a myriad of humdrum factors added up and I just needed to stop for a while and reevaluate what I want to do with this site:

1)      Due to the nature of my job, I often feel as if I am walking on eggshells anyway while writing about divisive and controversial topics. An especially high profile case came my way recently and I needed to retreat from activities done in view of the public. That included this site and my Facebook account.

2)      I was starting to feel a little burned-out. For the past two to three years, I’ve been blogging 5-6 times per week with little rest or breaks. This was on top of an already busy schedule that included three small kids at home, college courses, and a fulltime job. There is only so much time in a day and keeping up with the blog really started to weigh on me.

3)      Due mostly to my own stupid nature and obsession with Google Analytics, I get caught up in the numbers game with this blog way too much. Thus I felt the pressure to get up a new post every single day, something I just can’t do on a regular basis.

4)      I am expected to graduate from college at the end of the year but have had to take more classes than usual to do so. The extra college course work has added to my busy schedule and just really left a lot less time for blogging than I was previously used to.

5)      The Miami Heat was on a historic playoff run as Lebron James and Co. decimated opponents in an awesome fashion. This required my undivided attention.

Honestly, when I first stopped writing I wasn’t sure if I was quitting or just taking a much-needed break. But as time wore on, I realized something: I really enjoy this. I like writing, I like politics and I like mixing it up with readers who care about the same issues. I would have missed it too much if I left.

Going forward, my goal will be about two posts per week. If time permits, I might do more. I feel a bit rusty, as if my writing skills need to brushed off, so be a little patient at first. I’m thinking about devoting more time to the inherent liberal leanings in pop culture too, so we’ll see how that works out.

Anyway, I’m back.

YAY!  Hopefully you can get some help, too, so that you don't feel so much pressure to write.... not that I'm volunteering myself.  It's all I can do to keep 5 people fed, kids schooled, house at least semi-clean, laundry done, etc.  ;)  Glad you are back.

So, you and The Lizard Master aren't the same person?
